loving winter, who am I?

In July, it will be 30 years that I have lived in the great state of Utah. Most of those winters I have spent daydreaming of moving to a warmer climate. While summer will always have my heart (80-90 degrees is my happy place), this winter has been different. Not only have I tolerated the colder temperatures-I have found myself enjoying them!

I attribute it to one change-my daily walk. By “daily” I mean M-F most days. One afternoon in late August/early September, the weather was beautiful. I was running an errand with windows down and the sunroof open. On my way home I called my sister-in-law who lives down the street from me, “Do you want to go on a walk?” She did. We both decided we needed to do it every day. We would meet at the same time each morning and hold each other accountable. When I got home I saw that I missed a text from a friend asking if I wanted to hike up North Canyon… The three of us were craving a walk outside at the same time. It felt more than coincidental. We have been walking rain/snow/shine all winter long.

The days when it has seemed the least desirable (snow or rain) have truly been some of our favorite mornings. Every time I go, I come home SO HAPPY that I went. Occasionally, I snap a photo, when I just can’t take how pretty it is outside! Here are some of my favorites:

Are you a daily walker?
